Working group for promotion of new DSCTM joint projects and activities

The mission of the Working Group is to assist and support the Director in order to pursue the following objectives:
-    Enhancing the scientific and project initiation activities of the Department;
-    Optimizing suitable actions within the  scientific network of the Department in order to promote and facilitate the participation of the DSCTM in research projects in competitive regional, national and international tenders;
-    Fostering relations with companies and trade organizations operating in the industrial sectors of interest of the Department to encourage participation in industrial research projects and the technological exploitation;
-    Organizing the Annual Departmental conference and any other scientific events involving the Department;
-    Launching and managing calls for tenders for Department prizes;
-    Drafting  the DSCTM Research activities in the context of the three-year CNR Strategic Plan;
-    Preparing and updating the Department web page content of the research strategic areas.

Dr. Manuela Melucci (Chemistry and Technology of Materials)

Researcher ISOF CNR, Bologna
Ph.D. in Chemistry (2005) at the Alma Mater Studiorum- University of Bologna. Currently, responsible of the synthetic activities of the Laboratory of Advanced Materials -ISOF aiming at the design and synthesis of functional organic -hybrid materials and graphene composites for water purification and biomedical filtration applications.PI for CNR-ISOF of the National Project PRIN ‘New Approaches in Nanocarbo-catalysis for organic transformations’ (Nano-Carbo-Cat) and Regional project POR-FERS ‘Filtri multifunzionali con elevate capacità di scambio di calore ed umidità e per l’identificazione precoce di infezioni delle vie respiratorie’ (MEDFil).  Deputy Leader of the EU project ‘Graphene enhanced filters for water purification’ (Graphil), Spearhead project of the Graphene Flagship Project the Europe’s biggest ever research initiative.Responsible of the industrial contract with ‘Medica spa’ and with ‘Mister Smart Innovation’ (Regional High Technology Network), focusing on the development and characterization of polymeric membranes and composites.MM is author of over 90 papers (perspectives, review, book chapters, H-index 26 WoS) and inventor of 10 international and worldwide patents on optoelectronic materials and porous membranes in partnerships with leading industries in those fields.

Dr. Gabriele Manca

Gabriele Manca obtained his Ph.D. degree in Chemical Sciences from the University of Pisa in 2009. After a postdoctoral stay at the University of Rennes I, since 2010 he joined the CNR-ICCOM in Florence, where he is currently Researcher.  His main research interests are related to the investigation of the electronic structure/reactivity relations in organometallic compounds and to the exploration of the mechanism of catalytic processes. Currently, exploiting the predictive power of computational chemistry, he is involved in the exploration of electronic properties of exfoliated black phosphorus and in its possible functionalization (including with transition metal fragments) for different applications from catalysis to sensors. He is co‐author of 39 peer reviewed papers, 1 book chapter, more than 30 conferences communications. He is also reviewer for several international journals.

Dr. Mauro Marchetti (Green Chemistry)

Born August 18th, 1953, in Livorno (ITALY).
1972/1977-Chemie Laborant at the Eidgenossischen Technischen Hochschule (ETH) in Zuerich.
1977/1980-Fellow of a scholarship granted by the Società Italiana Resine (SIR), at the Institute of Applied Chemistry, University of Sassari.
1980/1982-Fellow of a scholarship granted by Laviosa Chemical Industry, at the Institute of Applied Chemistry, University of Sassari.
1983/1984-Head of the Municipal Water Quality Control Laboratory of the city of Sassari.
1985/1996-Research Associate at the Institute for the Application of Advanced Chemical Techniques to Agro-Biological Problems of C.N.R. (Italian National Research Council).
1987/1988-Visiting Scientist at the Department of Chemistry, Baker Laboratories, Cornell University (Ithaca, N.Y., USA) in the research group of Prof. Fred Mc Lafferty.

Dr. Laura Cartechini

Laura Cartechini received her PhD degree in Chemistry from the University of Perugia, Italy, in 1998, with an experimental thesis in the field of gas phase reaction dynamics. She joined CNR in 2001 and she is currently Deputy Director of the Istituto di Scienze e Tecnologie Chimiche "Giulio Natta" (SCITEC) in Perugia. Her research activity is focused on the study of chemical and physical properties of art-history materials by means of non-invasive and micro-destructive techniques based both on conventional and advanced analytical methodologies. These include synchrotron radiation based techniques (X-ray absorption spectroscopies), neutron diffraction and biomolecolar techniques. Since 2004 she has been involved in the access activity of the mobile platform MOLAB provided by I3 and H2020 European projects and within the national hub of the European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science (ERIHS). She is co-author of over 60 articles in peer-reviewed international scientific journals (H‐index=28 WoS) and of 11 book chapters.

Dr. Alessandro Mordini (Renewables Energy)

Dr. Alessandro Mordini: MS degree in Chemistry from Univ. Florence (1983). PhD degree in Chemical Sciences from Univ. Florence (1987), post-doctoral fellow at Lausanne (1984-85; 1988-89; 1992), Researcher at CNR – Firenze (1987-1991), Senior Researcher at CNR – Firenze (1991-2010), Research Director (from 2010). Visiting Professor at Kyoto University (2001). Co-author of about 100 articles in peer- and editor-reviewed international scientific journals, 13 book chapters and review articles, 1 patent. Invited lecturer at more than 25 international conference and Universities. Referee for many international scientific journals (ACS, Wiley, Elsevier, Springer). Scientific Responsible of several national and international research programs. Chairman of several scientific congresses and schools. Member of the executive board of the Organic Chemistry Division and of the Interdivisional Group of the Chemistry of Renewable Energies of the Italian Chemical Society. Member of the Technical and Scientific Board of the “Distretto Tecnologico Nuovi Materiali” della Regione Toscana. Main current scientific interests include: development of innovative methodologies and low environmental impact processes. New dyes for dye sensitized solar cells.

Dr. Alessandro Gori

PhD in Drug Chemistry - University of Milan (2012)
Alessandro Gori is currently Head of the Biomolecular Chemistry Lab at SCITEC-CNR, characterized by a strong expertise in peptide sciences. His research activities are currently devoted to new chemical technologies for the development of innovative diagnostic platforms, with a particular focus on extracellular vesicles for liquid biopsy. Likewise, his lab is developing new (nano)materials for integrated microanalytics and 3D cell growth. Alessandro is author or co-author of >40 scientific peer reviewed articles, and recipient of competitive grants. He is also active in tutoring activities for undergraduate and PhD students.

Dr.ssa Maria Luisa Pompili (Relations with companies)

Primo Tecnologo. Laurea in Farmacia - Università degli Studi di Roma “La Sapienza”; master in Innovation and Knowledge Transfer – Politecnico di Milano.
Vincitore del Premio per l’Innovazione CNR 2013 con il progetto “CNR Innovation Mall”, piattaforma open innovation del CNR che favorisce l’espressione dei bisogni tecnologici dei suoi stakeholder – imprese, associazioni ed enti, nazionali e locali.
Dal 2014 è Responsabile dell’Unità di Valorizzazione e Disseminazione della Ricerca del Dipartimento Scienze Chimiche e Tecnologie dei Materiali CNR. 
Dal 2007 al 2013 è stata Responsabile dell’Unità di Promozione dei Rapporti con il Sistema Pubblico e Privato della Ricerca del Dipartimento Progettazione Molecolare CNR.
Dal 2006 al 2007 è stata Referente per le Relazioni Esterne del Dipartimento Progettazione Molecolare CNR.
Dal 2003 al 2006 è stata Componente Struttura Tecnica “Trasferimento Tecnologico” presso l’Istituto per lo Studio dei Materiali Nanostrutturati - ISMN CNR.
Dal 2003 al 2006 è stata Responsabile Ufficio per le Attività di Formazione Area della Ricerca CNR Roma1. 
Dal 2004 al 2006 è stata Responsabile per la Qualità e Ricerca della sede accreditata Area della Ricerca CNR Roma1.
Dal 1984 al 2002 ha svolto attività di ricerca nel campo della chimica delle radiazioni e  radiofarmaci presso l’Istituto di Chimica Nucleare CNR. 

Dr. Alessandra Sanson (Renewables Energy; Chemistry and Technology of Materials)

Alessandra Sanson gained her master degree in Industrial Chemistry at the University of Padua  and her PhD at Cranfield University (UK) in 2003. From 2008 she is leader of the Materials and Processing for Energetics group of ISTEC where she coordinates the Institute activities in several Italian, European and regional projects. Her main activities concern the synthesis and characterization of advanced ceramics powders and their shaping processes: the most common used for bulk materials (pressing, slip-casting and extrusion) and thick and thin film deposition and additive manufacturing techniques. She is supervisor of MSc as well as PhD students of Padua and Bologna University and lecturer of “Advanced Ceramics Processing Techniques” and “Ceramics for Energy Applications” of the Chemistry Doctoral School of Bologna University. From October 2008 she is lecturer of “Industrial Processing for Ceramics” at Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche (ISIA) of Faenza and member of the managing director board. She is co-author of more than 60 peer-reviewed papers and referee for several journals and funding agencies.

Dr. Simona Barison

Researcher at ICMATE. Master Degree in Chemistry at the University of Padua in 1998. From 1999 to 2003 she had research grants at IENI-CNR Institute (today ICMATE) for research on “Ion beams in materials characterization." Since 2003 she is a researcher at ICMATE.
She cooperated in various research projects, working on the mass spectrometry for the characterization of materials and on the development of various materials including nanostructured materials and thin films of oxides or metals for applications in the field of energetics and catalysis, of ceramics for solid oxide fuel cells and membranes for gas purification and of nanofluids for heat exchange and solar or lubrication applications. From 2009 to 2015 she has been responsible for the research line "Advanced Components for fuel cells and refrigeration devices". She has been CNR representative in EERA (European Energy Research Alliance) in the Joint Programme “Fuel Cells & Hydrogen”. She is Management Committee Substitute of the COST Action “Overcoming Barriers to Nanofluids Market Uptake (NANOUPTAKE)”. She is co-author of 112 publications in peer review journals (h index 22, WoS).
